Andrew and Ben played Jamestowns doubles team and lost a hard fought match 6-1 6-7
(4-7) 6-2.

Hard fought battle comes up a little short!

Powhatan defeated Courtland 5-4 in a hard fought match that lasted almost 5 hours. Courtland finshed the season with a 11-4 record.

Regional Match at Powhatan

Reminder we get out at 11:45 tomorrow. Wear BLUE!!! Meet in the front of the school near the office. The trip takes at least 1 hour and 30 minutes so be prepared. Bring some snacks, your iPod or something to do. We will stop on our way home for something to eat.

District Doubles Results

Andrew and Ben breezed past Caroline's #2 doubles team 10-0 and then defeated Eastern View's #2 doubles team 10-3 to set up a semi-finals match against JM Friday, so no practice or pizza party.

Scott and Greg fell in the opening round 10-4.

Andrew played two tough matches today!!! He lost 6-0 6-0 to Spotsy's #1 and fell 6-1 6-2 to Eastern View's #1. He amassed a 10-8 record so far this season!!

For doubles we will leave tomorrow at 12:45 to play at UMW.

Courtland vs Powhatan now on Monday, May 24

Schedule change because both Boy's and Girl's will play at the same school. We will leave at 12:00 on Monday, May 24 to travel to Powhatan. Dismissal will be at 11:45, so if you have not eaten lunch bring something to eat on the trip. It will take about an hour and thirty minutes to get there. Match is to start at 3:00. Once the match is over we will return to Courtland. We will most likely stop to eat on the way home so be prepared. Play as much as you can this week and weekend!!! If we win we will play on Wednesday, May 26.

Congratulations to Andrew and Ben!! Both won their opening round matches in the District Tournament!!!

Ben drew a tough match against the tournaments #1 seed in the second round and fell 10-3

Andrew won his second round matchup against Chancellor's #2 10-1 and will play in tomorrow's semi-finals match with a chance to qualify for the Regional Tournament on June 1 in Williamsburg.

Team update!!!!

Powhatan is our next opponent!!! We will travel to Powhatan on Tuesday, May 25 with the girls team. Both Courtland teams will play Powhatan in the Regional tournament. We will let you know more specifics once we get them. We do know that it is about an hour and a half bus ride to Powhatan!!!

Andrew will play King George's #2 and if he wins will play the winner between Chancellor's #2 and King George's #1

Ben will play Caroline's #1 and if he wins will play the winner between Spotsy's #1 and Caroline's #2

In Doubles on Wednesday:

Andrew and Ben will play Caroline's #2 and if they win will play the winner between Caroline's #1 and Eastern View's #2

Scott and Greg will play Culpeper's #1 and if they win will play the winner between Eastern View's #1 and King George's #2.

The Boy's lost to JM 9-0 to finish their season with an impressive 11-3 record. They have qualified for regional play.

The Courtland Boy's tennis team (7-2) handed Eastern View their first district loss of the season 5-4. Ben remained undefeated at #2 singles and Andrew and Ben remain the #1 doubles team in the district!

The Boy's played a tough match falling 6-3. A very close match at # 1 that lasted over 2 hours saw Eastern View edge our Andrew!! Dropping 4 of 6 singles matches the team did not give up and played 3 close matches in doubles coming out on top at #1.

Yesterday was a good day, a lot of wind but we were able to get some work in. Today, March 5, we will play sets to determine the seeds to start the season.

Poor day for tennis!!

Today we attempted to play some tennis but the weather didn't cooperate. Rain mixed with a little snow preventing us from getting a full practice in. You are reminded to listen carefully to the daily announcements at the end of the day in case of inclement weather. I also will be expecting more active participation and viewing of the blog. This will be used as our communication throughout the season.

Because of the snow that remains on and around the tennis courts, tryouts will be moved.

Boys report on Tuesday, March 2 from 3:00-5:30.
